Frequently asked questions
How does it decide what counts as a duplicate?
You choose the columns that define a match, so a row only counts as a duplicate when the values you care about are identical, and you decide whether the first or the last copy survives. Rows whose chosen columns are all blank are ignored rather than treated as copies of one another.
Will it delete rows without asking?
No. You see exactly which rows would be removed in a preview and approve the cleanup before anything is deleted.
Why do duplicate rows matter?
Duplicates inflate counts, distort reports and break rollups. Removing them keeps your dashboards and totals accurate.
Is there a usage limit?
Previews and dry runs are unlimited and never count. Applying changes (a real write) is capped at 3 bulk runs per account per day while the tool is free, and each run works on a single sheet. The counter resets daily.
Prefer to do it by hand first?
Smartsheet has no remove-duplicates button. Flag duplicate rows with a COUNTIF helper column and delete them — or clear them automatically with a preview.
