Frequently asked questions
Can I find and replace across multiple Smartsheets at once?
Yes. Select the sheets and the matching text is replaced across all of them in a single pass, instead of opening each sheet one by one. Previews are unlimited; each Apply writes to a handful of sheets at a time — the exact number is in the usage-limit answer below.
Will it change anything before I confirm?
No. Every run starts as a dry run that shows exactly how many cells and rows would change, with before/after examples you can page through in full, so nothing is written until you approve it.
Which cells does it change?
Text values in Text/Number, dropdown and multi-select columns, and you can match case, match whole words only, or replace only when the whole cell matches exactly. Date, contact, checkbox and symbol columns are not searched, and numeric values stay numbers — so a replace can never silently retype a column. Formula cells, cell links and images are skipped too.
Is there a usage limit?
Previews and dry runs are unlimited and never count. Applying changes (a real write) is capped at 3 bulk runs per account per day while the tool is free, and a single run can span up to 5 sheets. The counter resets daily.
